How to fix shortcut icons changed to LNK files

 Go to Start > Run, and type regedit. Press Enter.

• Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.lnk\. Delete the User Choice folder, close the registry editor, and restart your machine.

Upon startup, your icons should be back to normal.
